TOLEDO BEND Sabine National Forest, 2012
To me, this solitary tree stood apart like a lone star in a crowded constellation. Toledo Bend Reservoir, on the Sabine River in the pinewoods of East Texas, straddles the border between Texas and Louisiana and is the largest man-made body of water in Texas, the largest in the South, and the fifth largest in the US. Notable for its deep and extensive forests, its western banks outline the edge of the Sabine National Forest. @utexaspress and @djpentagramliked this image for the cover of #AsFarAsYouCanSee because of its simple elegance.
